The Doors

This was my devotion for today. It comes from the book "Everything Counts" by; Steve Case / Oswald Chambers.
It is incredible. So deep. I challenge you to let the Lord speak to your heart today. Many times in life we want to do things for God, and we know that we are called of God to something big, but often times we don't want to take the necessary steps it takes to get to our "destiny." We don't want to labor and be trained, and be faithful in the smaller aspects of life, we just want to go to a huge place. God wants to mold us and make us because he is the Potter, and we are His clay.

-----------------------------------------------

"At that time Jesus said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children." (Matthew 11:25)

Think of your spiritual life as a series of doors in a long hallway. They're all closed and locked and there's nothing you can do on your own to open them. If you can get to the last one you'll receive a spiritual understanding. You can try to pick the locks on the doors. You can push, shove, and pull. You can read books on how to get through the doors. You can hurl yourself against them. But you'll never be able to open the doors on your own power. When you say, "I will live as God wants me to live," and then actually do it, the doors will open. God opens them. God throws them open and invites you in. As you go down the hallway, the doors get bigger and stronger. Each time your promise of obedience may get harder and harder, and all your strength and intelligence will never get you through. But God will always open the door when you obey. He's waiting for you to show Him you're ready to have it opened.

[OZ Says:] Obey God in the thing He shows you, and instantly the next thing is opened up. One reads tomes on the work of the Holy Spirit, when five minutes of drastic obedience would make things as clear as a sunbeam." I suppose I shall understand these things someday! You can understand them now. It is not study that does it, but obedience. The tiniest fragment of obedience, and heaven opens and the profoundest truths of God are yours straight away. God will reveal what you know already. Beware of becoming "wise and prudent."

Just between You and God:
You've said it before. "I am your servant, God." Promise it again now. Show that you can pull it off without question or complaint, and God will open the door for you.
