My Pagoo's 82nd Birthday!
What a precious man he is! Such a Servant.
We brought this huge balloon to Mercy medical to cheer up the room for his birthday party on Sunday. We also made a slide show of Pagoo
and the family. It was so great.
We had cake and punch and nuts (as dad likes) in the family room. Many friends and family joined us for the afternoon. It was great.
Spooky Spooky Party 10-5
We had so much fun on Saturday at our Costume Party.
Now if you're wondering what is the guy in the 01 shirt...
Let's just say, he is the "General Lee" from the Dukes of Hazzard.
He said he was pretending to be the car. Wow!!! haha.
What a funny guy he is. We had so much fun. We had a pinata,
and had apples on a string hanging from a tree, there was a dime located
inside each apple and you had to get the dime out with your mouth.
It was SO funny. More pictures to follow, as soon as I get them.
We had a great time being together. We grilled out, and some of the
guys fished while the rest of us played in the back yard.

~ Silence ~
Have you ever prayed for something, and have been searching for an answer for one of lifes questions, and you sought the Lord, and in answering you, He answered you through His word, devotions, prayer, or confirmation through others... Lately, I have been praying for God's direction for my life in many different aspects. For the past few weeks the Lord keeps confirming to me what His plan is.
He first used several ladies, then an evangelist that didn't know me from anywhere, and this morning, He used my devo. Sometimes we need a sign, or confirmation of what we are praying.
Sometimes we just need to wait on the Lord.
What He has been showing me is that I just need to let go of things, and quit trying to work something out on my own, and let God be God, and have complete control over every aspect of my life. He also said Lindsey "Just Trust Me!" So that is what I am doing. Trusting and waiting before the Lord
My devo today was called "NOW WHAT?"
"Yet when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days."
- John 11:6
We have a tendency to hit our knees, say our prayers, and then expect a glorious light show. We want pyrotechnics and special effects. WE want the full choir of angels to come down and sya, "Your prayer is answered." But often when we pray we get silence. Silence is sometimes God's answer. Silence means God trusts you to accept this as his answer. Silence is sometimes temporary. God may want to bless you beyond measure, but you might have to wait. Things happen in his time, not ours. So to be met with silence is to be trusted. You may be told, "what I have planned for you is unbelievable, so just wait for now." The secred here is to have faith that God has heard you, so you don't go back again and again, frustrated and angry in the false belief that God doesn't listen. You can't put limits on God. There is nothing God can't do in his time. So take the silence as a sign that God trusts you. How's that for a compliment?
[oz Says] A wonderful thing about God's silence is that the contagion of His stillness gets into you and you become perfectly confident - "I know God has heard me." His silence is the proof that He has. As long as you have the idea that God will bless you in answer to prayer, He will do it, but He will never give you the grace of silence. If Jesus Christ is bringing you into the understanding that prayer is for the glorifying of His Father, He will give you the first sign of His intimacy - silence.
Just between you and God: Follow the examble today. Find a place and sit in silence. Sit in the silence of God. Listen, but don't expect. Look, but don't plan on a vision - Just be in God's silence.

~ Devotion from Todd Agnew on Isaiah 6 ~
Isaiah 6
I grew up in the church. So I know the Sunday School definition for “holy”; it means “set apart.” But what does that mean? How does that affect my understanding of the Lord? Well, it lets me know that I can’t completely comprehend Him; He is “other.” He is something completely different than me. When I was younger, my understanding was that He was perfect. I was good, and He was perfectly good. I was truthful, and He was perfectly truthful. I was loving and He was perfectly loving. I thought He was the perfection of me. But that’s not true. He is “set apart”; He is completely different.
So what happens when I encounter something completely “other”? Well, Isaiah gives us a good idea in chapter 6. Isaiah sees the Lord, seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of His robe fills the temple. Isaiah’s response to seeing Holiness is fear and remorse. At that moment, He realizes the depth of His own sin. When we truly experience the Lord, we first understand our complete depravity. We realize the absolute poverty of our spiritual state. And this confession leads to a relationship. This recognition of our desperate need leads to our asking for help, which is the only path to the riches that await us. “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Understanding our sin leads to grieving over our sin. We don’t do that much in our culture. I read about it in my favorite book (other than the Bible, of course). In Imitation of Christ, Thomas a Kempis focuses on grieving over our sins, or as he refers to it, compunction of heart. “It is a marvel how any man can be merry in this life if he considers well how far he is in exile out of his own country, and in how great peril his soul stands daily. But because of frivolity of heart and carelessness, we do not feel and we will not feel the sorrow of our own soul, and oftentimes we laugh when we ought rather to mourn.” Isaiah cries out, “Woe to me, for I am a man of unclean lips, living among a people of unclean lips!” A true experience with God’s holiness always leads to brokenness and repentance. But it is this grieving that leads to our comfort. “A broken and contrite heart He will not despise.” “Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.”
God’s response to our confession and contrition is our cleansing. He is responsible for our perfection, not us. We cannot accomplish our salvation. God sends His angel to Isaiah with the coal to cleanse his lips. God is the owner and originator of our cleansing. Nor can we make ourselves useful. For it is only after Isaiah’s cleansing that He is available for use. Isaiah cries out, “Here am I. Send me!”
A human encounter with holiness is devastating. It refuses to allow us to be impressed with the things of the world we’ve been chasing. It refuses to allow us to remain comfortable in our sin. It refuses to allow us to remain on the throne of our lives. And it leads us to a relationship with the only One who can perfectly love us, who can forgive all our sins, and who can make us into His likeness. Our encounter with His holiness is our devastation. And our devastation is our salvation.

The Doors
This was my devotion for today. It comes from the book "Everything Counts" by; Steve Case / Oswald Chambers.
It is incredible. So deep. I challenge you to let the Lord speak to your heart today. Many times in life we want to do things for God, and we know that we are called of God to something big, but often times we don't want to take the necessary steps it takes to get to our "destiny." We don't want to labor and be trained, and be faithful in the smaller aspects of life, we just want to go to a huge place. God wants to mold us and make us because he is the Potter, and we are His clay.
-----------------------------------------------
"At that time Jesus said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children." (Matthew 11:25)
Think of your spiritual life as a series of doors in a long hallway. They're all closed and locked and there's nothing you can do on your own to open them. If you can get to the last one you'll receive a spiritual understanding. You can try to pick the locks on the doors. You can push, shove, and pull. You can read books on how to get through the doors. You can hurl yourself against them. But you'll never be able to open the doors on your own power. When you say, "I will live as God wants me to live," and then actually do it, the doors will open. God opens them. God throws them open and invites you in. As you go down the hallway, the doors get bigger and stronger. Each time your promise of obedience may get harder and harder, and all your strength and intelligence will never get you through. But God will always open the door when you obey. He's waiting for you to show Him you're ready to have it opened.
[OZ Says:] Obey God in the thing He shows you, and instantly the next thing is opened up. One reads tomes on the work of the Holy Spirit, when five minutes of drastic obedience would make things as clear as a sunbeam." I suppose I shall understand these things someday! You can understand them now. It is not study that does it, but obedience. The tiniest fragment of obedience, and heaven opens and the profoundest truths of God are yours straight away. God will reveal what you know already. Beware of becoming "wise and prudent."
Just between You and God:
You've said it before. "I am your servant, God." Promise it again now. Show that you can pull it off without question or complaint, and God will open the door for you.

All good things must come to an end
Tonight was the last night of Kids Krusade at the Orchard! Very sad for me, but I had a blast. Those kids bless me so much. Their child like faith in Jesus, and their zeal to worship and grow in Him is unbelievable. I love it so much. They are just "presh".
Tonight's fun songs were "You are Good" & "Lord I Lift Your Name on High". My friend Chris sang with me, and did a wonderful job.

Kids Krusade @ The Orchard
Tonight was the second night of Kids Krusade at Orchard Assembly of God. Our theme is Ordinary to Extraordinary. I'm leading worshi for it, and am having a blast. I love it when kids have fun worshipping Jesus.
Tonights message was on having a broken heart. Pastor Ryan asked the kids what were different things that cause one to have a broken heart. The kids begain saying things like divorce, death, siblings, etc. He explained to them that Jesus could mend their broken hearts if they would let him. During the alter service, tons of kids came down because of their broken hearts. I went to pray with them and I stopped at this little girl first. She was so precious. I wrapped my arms around her and asked her if her heart was broken, and she said yes, and as I asked her more questions, this 8 year old sweetheart came down because her mother had passed away the year before as a result of complications from surgery.
She was so broken. The tears kept streaming down her rosy cheeks. I didn't think that I could pray for her because tears were welling up in my eyes, but the Lord gave me the strength to do it.
We never know what one may be going through in their life. We are from all walks of life and each face different things every day. We are all dealt with difficult situations at some point in our lives, and sometimes it seems like once something happens, many other things happen after that. It's as if it gets worse and worse, but we have a hope if we are Christians to make it through those tough times. Whenever our hearts are breaking with pain and agony, we can turn to our heart mender, and know that He is right there to carry us, and to pick up the broken pieces of our hearts.

Leadership...
I have been reading the book Jesus on Leadership by C. Gene Wilkes. It is so awesome. If we want to be used of the Lord we must become servants. A friend once told me "Meaningful Ministry always involves you holding the towel." If we want to be effective in the ministries the Lord entrusts to us we must become a servant first... afterall, Jesus was. Jesus was the ultimate portrait of a servant leader. James M. Burns said; "All leaders are actual or potential power holders, but not all power holders are leaders."
Each and every one of us have been created and called by God. He has a great work for each of our lives, and we have the ability to change the world just by being a servant and doing what the Lord has called us to do, and we don't have to be famous to change the world. If we want to be great or do something great, we must first humble ourselves and be a servant.

Timing is everything
"May God give you the eyes to see all that you are looking for, the ears to hear what you need to hear, and the patience to receive it in God's time, not yours. "
This is such an incredible statement by Mike Yaconelli, from his book devotion. My prayer lately has been what he said. So many times in life we are all looking for direction whether it is a job situation, a move, which college to go to, etc. Deep down we all want to know what the best thing for our lives should be.
Lately I have been faced with some decisions, and haven't exactly given it all to the Lord like I should. I have tried to take matters into my own hands, and "move mountains" ,so to speak, myself. But the Lord said to me the other day that I need to quit trying to do things on my own, and just give everything to Him, and trust him. He is working it all out and at the right time, it will all come to pass.
Today we should seek to see with God eyes, open our ears to hear His voice speaking to us, (He will speak to us through His word, through others, and through prayer), and ask the the Lord to help us to trust Him, knowing that there is a time and season for everything.
God is always on time. He is never early and never late!
